Dr. Krishna P. Gupta is an esteemed researcher and professor in the field of carcinogenesis. She obtained her Ph.D. from the King George's Medical College, Lucknow, India, in 1982, from the University of Lucknow. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to complete postdoctoral studies at prestigious institutions like Baylor College of Medicine and M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, Texas, USA. Additionally, she served as a visiting scientist at the Institute of Toxicology, University of Mainz, Germany, as well as Buffalo State and Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, USA.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gupta has made significant contributions to the scientific community. Dr. Gupta was affiliated with CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research in Lucknow holding the positions of a scientist and professor specializing in carcinogenesis. Her research endeavours have been fruitful, as evidenced by the publication of more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and US patent. Furthermore, she has been recognized for her expertise and is actively involved in the editorial boards of esteemed scientific journals. Dr. Krishna P. Gupta's research interests have been focused on understanding the mechanism of tumour development and the action of naturally occurring compounds for cancer control, with an emphasis on their optimized use. Her work has delved into the intricacies of oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes, studying their role in proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Additionally, she has explored the realms of epigenetics and non-coding small RNAs, particularly gene promoter CpG methylation, histone modifications, and microRNA, as early indicators for cancer risk assessment and control. In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Gupta has also been involved in significant developments in the medicinal field. Her research has extended to the development of Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery to Colon, aiming to deter preneoplastic damage and enhance cancer therapy.
Notably, Dr. Krishna P. Gupta held the prestigious position of ICMR Emeritus Medical Scientist at BBAU Lucknow from 2017 to 2020. Her impressive career trajectory and numerous accomplishments have solidified her status as a leading figure in the study of carcinogenesis and cancer control/therapy.
